God Bless M&S

As I casually strolled around the cobbled sunny streets of Norwich this afternoon, doing a sensible, penny-saving window shop (as always), I could't help but notice it was the grand opening of the brand new, gloriously shiny Marks & Spencers. Surrounded with wall plants and copper columns, Norwich officially boasts the second largest M&S in the country, so naturally I had to check out this colossal beast of a store. I have always been a fan of M&S, the food hall in particular. In my University days, most fellow students scrounged a weekly food shop out of a fiver in Asda or Iceland, living off Pot Noodles and toast; in I stroll with an M&S Finest root vegetable and couscous tagine with stuffed butternut wedges....not really ideal. Asides from their delicious and slightly pretentious food, and of course the extensive collection of lingerie and hosiery that I have always loved, I can't say I've taken much notice of the clothing collections before. Well more fool me! There's elegant blouses, Autumnal accessories and chunky knitwear galore. I was most impressed. As I was handed a plastic champagne glass filled with M&S Finest valencia orange juice, I proceeded to wander around the new surroundings. Here are a few pieces that particularly caught my eye.

A Hint Of Vintage.

Everybody loves a good charity shop find every now and again, and for many people (myself most definitely included) it's not always an easy procedure. I love the vintage look; grandad cardigans, silk scarves, battered leather bags....pretty much everything you would find in Urban Outfitters. But rather than forking out my crisp, non-existent £50 notes at the likes of Urban Outfitters, it is so much more rewarding to scout out the same thing but at a fraction of the price. Having only recently lost my charity shop virginity I can't exactly say I'm a pro at getting down and dirty with the endless piles of second hand goods. Cue the beloved Grandmother, who ever so kindly let me loose in her giant charity shop-esk wardrobe last week. Three giant, overflowing M&S bags later and my work there was complete. I even got myself a couple of vintage cameras that have made it several decades through the generations. With my vintage hand-embroided blouse, silk scarf, quilted bag and retro camera around my neck, I'm fit for an Urban Outfitters catalogue. Just with a few extra curves. Here are a few photos of some of my favourites from the collection:

Inside the case of the vintage camera was my Great Grandad's
army number and his name. Adorable.

I ALWAYS appreciate a vintage Radley Handbag

Mandatory Mustard

As a condiment, I can't say I'm a fan. Its spicy, pungent, and has the ability to ruin a perfectly good dish. As a colour in the contemporary fashion world however, it brings nothing but good things. Adding a splash of colour to the current Autumnal tones and strongly complimenting the resurrection of 1970's style, Mustard is an Autumn/Winter 11 wardrobe winner. Here is a cheeky selection of my personal high street faves:

Topshop Coat - £75.00

H&M Jumper - £15.99

ASOS Bag - £32.00

River Island Jumper - £40.00

Zara Blouse - £29.99

River Island Bag - £80.00

Miss Selfridge Skirt - £29.00

Topshop Brogues - £30.00

Miss Selfridge Clutch - £20.00
