Russian Red

There is nothing better than a classic rouge lipstick, and having tried and tested numerous brands and shades in the past, I have finally found my absolute fave; Russian Red by MAC. MAC's range of matte lipsticks are fantastic, and this saturated, deep velvety red adds 1940's Hollywood glamour to any look night and day! Russian Red is a staple piece in my heavily overflowing makeup bag, despite the fact that my mum insists my lips are too big for such a dramatic shade, and tends to refer to me as Mick Jagger. It's easy to apply, and most importantly stays put!! Usually after a hefty meal and numerous cocktails, '1940's glamour' would hastily turn to 'Joker from Batman' which lets be honest, is never ideal. This tasty little lipstick has seen me through meals, dates, nights out, days at work….none of which have resulted in Joker-related embarrassment.

Valentino The Great

Valentino Garavani is one of Italy's finest exports, admired for his exquisite couture creations and divine red carpet gowns. Unfortunately my gown collection is not yet underway, but one day I will have my Valentino number, and preferably an occasion to wear it. Whilst roaming around London a few days ago I stumbled upon the 'Valentino: Master of Couture' exhibition at Somerset House; a major exhibition celebrating the incredible life and work of Valentino Garavani. From photographs from his personal archive, to a couture fashion show revealing one hundred and thirty of his haute couture designs, I would honestly say the exhibition is a fascinating insight into the life of Valentino. Tickets cost £12.50, and I can safely say it was worth every penny. I even ventured into the gift shop in high spirits, feeling like an absolute fashionista and hoping to waltz out of Somerset House with a few of the finest Valentino souvenirs. Unfortunately I work in retail, thus could only afford the novelty £12 tote bag. At least I can do my food shop in style…

Jazzy Shoes & Winter Blues

Working around shoes five days a week has its disadvantages. For a start my shoe collection has tripled, much like the pages of my monthly bank statements, but at the end of the day, shoes are a fundemental piece of any outfit. They are a daily necessity, so you may as well don the best ones you possibly can. Here we have my shoes of the week. Tan leather and metallic gold are clearly a gorgeous combination, and Topshop have once again done themselves proud with these fabulous high vamp peep toes. Definitely a Spring must-have! February is pretty much Spring, right?!

Fashionista Alphabet

During one of my many lunch-break browsing sessions this week, I realised how spoilt for choice we actually are this season. There is such a delicious selection of trends on offer, and I must say I am most impressed! Ok, so the flouncy florals are a tad old now, but this seasons quirky calypso twist on the mundane pastel prints that bloom into fashion every Spring has added a funky edge to the girly classic. Whilst pondering over which of the delightful collections I should dedicate my next post to, I decided that an entire A-Z of fashionable alphabet goodness would be absolutely ideal! So here it is, the grand alphabet of tasty Spring/Summer 2012 trends. From grungy tribals to princess pastels, there is something to suit everybody this season. My bank cards are in for a real treat...
